In the few seconds you have going past there are so many variables to consider Im late for work, il get fired and wont be able to provide for my family I ont know what to do, what if I have to look after the child? I dont know how... I would be no help anyway I make food im no doctor Someone must know the child and its parents...I dont Someone responsible behind me will probably help its not my problem Most of that thrown at you in an instant plus more would make any decision difficult And everyone is different not every human wants to help others It would all have been down to chance I cant watch the video but these people arent all stopping and staring for a while are they? And how do we know they all seen the child? What Pelador said does makesense think of it like this you and a group of people witness a tramp collapse, what do you do? Call me what you want here, im just being honest. I know CPR...but this man is dirty and smelly why do I have to do it? I dont know him and its not my fault why should I risk my life? Thats how I would feel and the general idea is what would go through the average human beings head, what happens next depends on the individual |

I won't speak on the general nature of humanity because I'm not an expert of sociology. All I will say is that I have nothing but contempt for people that wouldn't stop to help a human being in the street, including those here who have said they wouldn't. You sicken me. |

I get where you're coming from I sicken myself sometimes so I hold nothing against you But thats the point everyone is different does it make you evil to not help? Its up to opinion after all thats what good and evil are there's good evil and nothing imo I dont see the people that went oast as evil I consider everything that when through their heads first What if your kids were in the car do you want them seeing a possibly dead child? Now if people went past and pointed at the child laughing I'd consider them sick evil individuals the rest failed to act with the time they given or chose not to |

I'd rather them see that than know that they live in a world where if they were hit by a car they could be quite happily ignored as they died on the street. |

Oh he might of been late for work though....... Or didn't know CPR.... ^***** excuses. It would suck if someone didn't want to be 10 minutes late if you were dying on the side of the road. I agree, some people are just sick. |

There's no reason anyone shouldn't stop to help that child. It's not an instinct, it's people being self centered ***** and not wanting to stray out of their paths and god forbid help a child of that age. They should all feel pathetic for not helping. |

No, that's the description of the reaction, not a valid excuse to leave someone, especially a toddler, lying on the street. When I was walking to school months ago, there was a little girl sitting on her bike crying, and I stopped to ask if she was ok. She was fine, it was just her first time going to school without her mum. Point is, if I can risk being late to ask a little girl is alright, and I'm just some random burke, then why can't one in the dozens of people to pass that clearly far worse off toddler not stop? I know people are all different, and culture is different etc etc. But if a culture is such that a child is left to die from a car accident then that's a culture that needs a ***** load of criticism and restructuring. |

I was walking along a pretty quiet cul-de-sac so as far as I could see, I was the first person to walk past her. I know what you're trying to say, all I'm saying is that just because other people do it, doesn't make it a valid excuse. |

Exactly, it's like when people are driving on a motorway, if everybody claims to go 80mph on the motorway and the speed limit is 70mph, thats doesn't make it okay, it's still against the law. Just cause everybody else does something that doesn't make it the right thing to do. Peer pressure is based on that, the phrase "If [insert name here] jumped off a cliff, would you?" is based on that. |

There's no excuse for ignoring a mangled little girl on the side of the road when you're physically capable of helping. What if the girl died? Every single one of the people who ignored her - morally responsible due to inaction. The parents are also incredibly irresponsible for not keeping a closer eye on their child. I agree there's traceable behavioural tendencies associated with the people who did nothing, but they can't be attributed to humanity in general, although it is probably common among those who share similar lifestyles.
